Flow Meters can make use of the latest technology but there are different types which allow you to use them for various tasks, the basic techniques are fairly well established but Flowmeters fall into six broad groups generally which are the following:1.Differential pressure devices: (including variable area meters and mechanical flap devices)2.Inferential devices such as turbine meters, propeller meters .3.Positive displacement meters, including oval gear, nutating disc, oscillating piston) 4.Fluidic devices, vortex meters 5.Velocity measuring devices such as electromagnetic and ultrasonic and 6.Mass flow measurement meters (Coriolis, thermal) .Each of these flowmeters has its own strengths and weaknesses: every different flow meter style within these. There are some excellent suppliers of these on line who will be able to advise you too if needed. They will often sell at trade prices too as they have much lower out goings than a shop as you are buying direct from the manufacturer more often than not.
