Semiconductor device and driving method thereof
In a light emitting device, a variation in intensity caused by varying a threshold value of a TFT for supplying a current to a light emitting element for each pixel becomes a burden to an improvement of an image quality of the light emitting device. A voltage equal to the threshold value of a TFT ( 106 ) is held in capacitor unit ( 109 ). When a video signal is inputted from a source signal line, the voltage held in the capacitor unit is added thereto and a resultant signal is applied to a gate electrode of the TFT ( 106 ). Even when a threshold value is varied for each pixel, each threshold value is held in the capacitor unit ( 109 ) for each pixel. Thus, the influence of a variation in threshold value can be eliminated. Further, holding of the threshold value is conducted by only the capacitor unit ( 109 ) and a charge does not move at writing of a video signal so that a voltage between both electrodes is not changed. Thus, it is not influenced by a variation in capacitance value.
Method and circuit for driving liquid crystal display
A driving method of an LCD panel having a plurality of display groups comprising a plurality of display cells and respectively coupled to a data electrode and a gate electrode. The display cells of the display group are coupled to the data electrode and the gate electrode connected to the display group. The video signals are provided to the data electrodes to make the number of the display groups having the number of the display cells with positive polarity greater than the number of the display cells with negative polarity equal to the number of the display groups having the number of the display cells with negative polarity greater than the number of the display cells with positive polarity. The display groups are coupled to the same gate electrode. Then, the scan signals are provided to the gate electrodes.
Control of display content by movement on a fixed spherical space
The present invention addresses the above described problems by simplifying the assumptions on possible motions made by a user. Calculations of motions of the device can be made based on these Javal arcs. A method of the invention includes the steps of selecting at least a portion of an image on which to superimpose a texture and segmenting that portion of the image into a plurality of clusters. The texture patches are then blended together. This exemplary method of the invention has the result of the texture patches appearing to adopt the surface undulations of the underlying surface.

Colour calibration of emissive display devices
A calibration method for calibrating a fixed format emissive display device having a plurality of pixels is described In the display each pixel comprises at least three sub-pixels for emitting light of different real primary colours. The method comprises determining, for each real primary colour separately, a virtual target primary colour which can be reached by at least 80% of the pixels of the display, determining a colour gamut defined by the determined virtual target primary colours, and adjusting the drive currents to the sub-pixels to achieve a colour inside the determined colour gamut. A display having an extended range of colours is described, i.e. a gamut of colours that is more than the gamut provided by an n virtual primary colour based electronic multicolour display, as measured on a chromaticity diagram, for example. A color and/or brightness uniform image can be produced with this fixed format emissive display device.
Display device employing electrophoretic migration
An electrophoretic display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate disposed opposite each other, a dielectric liquid filled in a gap between the first substrate and the second substrate, a plurality of charged electrophoretic particles dispersed in the dielectric liquid, a first electrode and a second electrode disposed on the first substrate to define a pixel, a partition wall disposed on at least one of the first substrate and the second substrate between adjacent pixels to prevent migration of the charged electrophoretic particles between the adjacent pixels, and a third electrode disposed adjacent to the partition wall. The charged electrophoretic particles migrate at least between a surface of the first electrode and a surface of the second electrode, and between the surface of the first electrode and a side surface of the partition wall where the third electrode is disposed to thereby switch displays.

A light emitting element drive apparatus capable of always outputting the lowest voltage satisfying the drive conditions and having a high light emitting efficiency and a low power loss, and a portable apparatus using the same, comprising a LED drive apparatus 10 to which LEDs 20 - 1 to 20 -n of different drive voltages required for emitting light are connected in parallel and driving one or more LEDs, wherein the LED drive apparatus 10 has drive circuits 13 - 1 to 13 -n connected to the corresponding LEDs among a plurality of LEDs and driving the corresponding LEDs with luminances based on set values and power supply circuits 14 and 15 for deciding a drive voltage value required for the highest light emission among one or more LEDs driven to emit light based on drive states of drive circuits (for example terminal voltages of the current source) and supplying a drive voltage having at least the decided value to a plurality of LEDs in parallel.
